The whole idea of doing literature festival was to introduce children to different authors around the world and expose them to stories with different activities revolving around it. For this purpose, we selected the story “Around The World In Eighty Days” by Jules Verne. The reason behind selecting this story was children learnt about different countries and cultures across the world, modes of transport and the most important concept of time zone. The literature festival was for 9 days and children traveled along with the characters and the excitement by doing lot of activities. They drew the characters, spoke about their favorite characters, made some craft items depicting the importance of that country (e.g. Japanese fan, Elephant, boats etc) and also did fun English activities like word search and crossword puzzles. They loved the concept of time zone and were happy that they learnt something new.
